Description
At its core, this recipe is a clever and efficient way to create a classic Italian-American staple. A garlic knot is traditionally made from scraps of pizza dough that are tied into a knot, baked, and then drenched in a mixture of oil or butter, garlic, and herbs. In our version, we are elevating the humble knot by stuffing it with gooey mozzarella cheese. This creates a “molten” center that surprises anyone who takes a bite.
Ingredients
1 can (16 oz) refrigerated pizza dough
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped (or 1 tsp dried)
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
½ tsp Italian seasoning
Pinch of salt
Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Dough
Lightly flour a surface and roll out the pizza dough slightly.
Cut into 8–10 equal strips.
Flatten each strip, place a small amount of mozzarella in the center, fold over, and seal the edges.
Tie each strip into a knot shape, pinching ends to secure.
2️⃣ Preheat Air Fryer
Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3–5 minutes.
3️⃣ Air Fry
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil.
Place knots in a single layer (do not overcrowd).
Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes, or until golden brown.
4️⃣ Garlic Butter Topping
Mix melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, and salt.
Brush generously over warm knots.
Sprinkle with grated Parmesan.
