Instructions

1️⃣ Make the dough

  3. Add eggs, vanilla, and the yeast mixture. Mix into a dough.

  4. Knead in softened butter gradually until the dough becomes smooth and elastic (about 8–10 minutes).

  5. Cover and let rise 1–1.5 hours, until doubled.


2️⃣ Prepare the filling

  1. Mix tahini, brown sugar, and cinnamon into a smooth paste.

  2. Set chocolate chips aside.


3️⃣ Shape the babka

  1. Roll dough into a large rectangle (~10×16 in / 25×40 cm).

  2. Spread the tahini mixture evenly.

  3. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.

  4. Roll tightly into a log.

  5. Slice the log lengthwise and twist the two halves together to create the classic babka braid.

  6. Place into a greased loaf pan.


4️⃣ Second rise

  • Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes until puffy.


5️⃣ Bake

  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden.


6️⃣ Make syrup & finish

  1. Heat sugar and water until dissolved.

  2. Brush the warm babka with the syrup for shine and moisture.
