Description
The Chocolate-Strawberry Tower is a visually striking dessert that layers fresh strawberries with rich, velvety chocolate and fluffy whipped cream. The strawberries are carefully dipped in semi-sweet or dark chocolate, allowing them to set and then sliced horizontally. Each slice is then filled with a generous dollop of whipped cream, stacked together to form the “tower.”
Ingredients
Scale
For the Towers:
- 12 large strawberries (choose ones with a flat base for stability)
- 1 cup (175g) semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate)
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable oil (optional, for smoother chocolate)
- 1/2 cup whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)
- Optional: Crushed nuts, sprinkles, or shredded coconut for garnish
For Garnish/Decoration:
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Fresh mint leaves (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Strawberries:
- Wash the strawberries and pat them dry completely (chocolate won’t stick to wet strawberries).
- If necessary, trim the tops slightly so they can sit flat.
2. Melt the Chocolate:
- Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Add the coconut oil (optional) for a smoother consistency.
- Microwave in 20-30 second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is fully melted and glossy. Be careful not to overheat.
- Alternatively, melt the chocolate using a double boiler.
3. Dip the Strawberries:
- Dip each strawberry into the melted chocolate, covering about two-thirds of the berry. Let any excess chocolate drip off.
- Place the dipped strawberries on a parchment-lined baking sheet to set. You can sprinkle crushed nuts, sprinkles, or shredded coconut on the chocolate before it hardens for extra flair.
- Let the strawberries set at room temperature or in the fridge for about 10-15 minutes.
4. Assemble the Towers:
- Once the chocolate has set, slice the strawberries horizontally into 3 sections (bottom, middle, and top).
- Starting with the bottom section of the strawberry, pipe or spoon a dollop of whipped cream onto it.
- Place the middle section of the strawberry on top, add another dollop of whipped cream, and finish with the top section of the strawberry (the pointy end).
- Repeat this process for all the strawberries.
5. Decorate and Serve:
- Arrange the strawberry towers on a serving platter.
- Dust lightly with powdered sugar for an elegant touch.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
Notes
For an elegant finish, drizzle with melted dark chocolate or dust lightly with powdered sugar just before serving. Garnish with fresh mint leaves for a pop of color.
