Coconut Lime Sorbet: A Tropical, Dairy-Free Delight

  • Author: David Andersson
  • Total Time: 4 hours (including freezing)
  • Diet: Vegan

Description

Coconut Lime Sorbet is a smooth, creamy dessert made from coconut milk and fresh lime juice. Unlike ice cream, which often contains dairy products, sorbet is a dairy-free frozen dessert made from fruit juice, sugar, and water. In this version, the richness of coconut milk provides the creamy texture, while the tangy lime zest and juice add a citrusy bite that makes the sorbet incredibly refreshing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups full-fat canned coconut milk (unsweetened)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ⅛ tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp lime zest
  • ½ cup fresh lime juice

Instructions

  • Mix the Base In a large bowl with a spout, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Stir until sugar dissolves completely.
  • Add Citrus Stir in lime zest and lime juice. Mix well.
  • Chill the Mixture Refrigerate for at least 1 hour until very cold. This helps with smoother churning.
  • Churn the Sorbet Pour into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer’s instructions (usually 20–25 minutes).
  • Freeze to Firm Up Transfer to an airtight container and freeze for 2–3 hours until scoopable.

Notes

For an extra tropical touch, top with toasted coconut flakes or a few fresh mint leaves. Serve in a hollowed-out lime or coconut shell for a fun and refreshing presentation.
