Description
This isn’t your average, overly complicated dessert. This is a recipe for everyone, regardless of your baking skill level. It takes minimal effort to produce a truly impressive result. Imagine tender apple slices wrapped in flaky, golden-brown crescent roll dough, all swimming in a luscious, buttery cinnamon-sugar sauce. Then, the secret ingredient is added: a splash of lemon-lime soda that creates a magical, caramelized glaze as it bakes. The aroma alone will have your family or guests gathering in the kitchen before you even pull the dish out of the oven.
Ingredients
- 2 medium Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored, cut into 16 slices)
- 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Rolls
- ¾ cup butter, melted
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ⅔ cup Sprite™ or other lemon-lime soda
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 13×9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- Wrap the apples: Unroll crescent dough and separate into 16 triangles. Place one apple slice on the wide end of each triangle and roll up.
- Arrange dumplings in the baking dish.
- Make the sauce: In a bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Pour evenly over the dumplings.
- Add soda: Pour Sprite™ around the edges and between dumplings (not directly on top).
- Bake for 33–36 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly for 15 minutes before serving. Optional: top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
For an extra touch, serve these warm dumplings with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce. You can also sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon sugar on top for added sweetness and flavor
