The Ultimate Guide to Making Crispy Hot Honey Salmon Bowls

  • Author: David Andersson
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 23 bowls 1x

Description

At its core, this dish is a modern take on the classic grain bowl. The star of the show is the salmon, which is cubed and tossed in a light coating to ensure maximum surface area for crisping. Instead of a traditional pan-sear, we focus on creating a golden crust that acts as a vessel for the Crispy Hot Honey Salmon Bowls sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 2 salmon fillets (skin removed, cut into cubes)

  • 1½ tbsp cornstarch

  • Salt & black pepper (to taste)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 2 tbsp oil (for cooking)

Hot Honey Sauce

  • 3 tbsp honey

  • 12 tsp chili flakes (adjust heat)

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp sriracha or any hot sauce

  • 1 tsp rice vinegar or lemon juice

  • 1 minced garlic clove

Bowl Base & Toppings

  • 2 cups cooked rice (white, brown, or jasmine)

  • 1 avocado (sliced)

  • 1 cup cucumber (sliced or diced)

  • 1 carrot (shredded)

  • Edamame or steamed broccoli (optional)

  • Sesame seeds & green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the salmon

  1. Pat salmon dry and cut into bite-size cubes.

  2. Toss with cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until coated.

2️⃣ Cook until crispy

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high.

  2. Add salmon pieces in a single layer.

  3. Cook about 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crispy.

3️⃣ Make the hot honey

In a small bowl, mix honey, chili flakes, soy sauce, sriracha, vinegar, and garlic.

4️⃣ Sauce the salmon

Pour sauce into the pan and toss salmon for 1–2 minutes until glossy and slightly sticky.

5️⃣ Assemble bowls

  1. Add rice to bowls.

  2. Top with salmon, avocado, cucumber, carrot, and extras.

  3. Sprinkle sesame seeds and green onions.
