Description
At their core, Espresso Brownie Truffle Bites are a hybrid dessert. Imagine the best brownie you have ever eaten—moist, chewy, and packed with cocoa—then imagine that brownie concentrated into a small, portable sphere. To elevate it further, we infuse the batter with high-quality espresso powder, which acts as a flavor enhancer for the chocolate, making it taste more intense without necessarily making the dessert taste like a cup of coffee.
Ingredients
For the Brownie Base:
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup unsalted butter
¾ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp instant espresso powder
¾ cup all-purpose flour
¼ tsp salt
2 tbsp cocoa powder
For the Truffle Coating:
1 cup dark chocolate, chopped
1 tsp coconut oil (optional, for shine)
Cocoa powder or finely chopped nuts (optional for garnish)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper.
Melt chocolate chips and butter together until smooth. Stir in sugar. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla and espresso powder.
Fold in flour, cocoa powder, and salt just until combined.
Bake for 18–22 minutes until set but still fudgy in the center. Cool completely.
Once cooled, crumble the brownies into a bowl. Press and roll into small balls (about 1 tablespoon each). Place on a lined tray and chill for 20–30 minutes.
Melt dark chocolate with coconut oil until smooth. Dip each brownie ball into the melted chocolate and place back on parchment.
Sprinkle with cocoa powder or nuts before the coating sets.
Chill until firm (about 20 minutes).
