Strawberry Salsa

Strawberry Salsa: A Sweet and Spicy Summer Twist

  • Author: David Andersson

Description

Strawberry Salsa is a fruity twist on the classic salsa recipe, where strawberries take the place of tomatoes, creating a lighter, more refreshing flavor profile. This salsa combines the sweet juiciness of strawberries with the tangy zest of lime, the aromatic freshness of cilantro, and the mild heat of jalapeños. The result is a salsa that can be served with a wide variety of dishes, from grilled seafood to fresh salads.

Ingredients

Scale

Core Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and diced
  • 1 small red onion, finely diced
  • 12 small jalapeño peppers, seeds removed and minced (adjust heat to your preference)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup (optional, adjust sweetness to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Optional Add-ins:

  • 1/2 avocado, diced (adds creaminess)
  • 1 small tomato, diced (for extra juiciness)
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice (for a citrusy twist)

Instructions

1: Prepare the Ingredients

  • Begin by hulling and dicing the fresh strawberries into small, bite-sized pieces.
  • Finely chop the red onion, cilantro, and jalapeños. Remember, you can control the heat level by adjusting the number of jalapeños. Removing the seeds from the jalapeños will help reduce the spice.

 2: Mix the Salsa

  • In a medium bowl, combine the diced strawberries, red onion, minced jalapeños, and chopped cilantro.
  • Add the lime juice, honey or agave syrup, salt, and black pepper to the mix.
  • Stir everything together gently until the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

 3: Taste and Adjust

  • Taste the salsa and adjust the seasoning to your liking. If you prefer a tangier salsa, add more lime juice. For additional sweetness, drizzle in more honey or agave syrup. If you want more heat, add an extra jalapeño or a pinch of cayenne pepper.

 4: Chill and Serve

  • Allow the salsa to sit in the fridge for at least 15-20 minutes before serving. This resting time helps the flavors meld together.
  • Serve the salsa with tortilla chips, on grilled chicken, fish tacos, or as a topping for salads.

Notes

This Strawberry Salsa is a burst of fresh flavors — sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy! Great with chips, grilled meats, or as a vibrant topping. Customize it with your favorite herbs or a splash of lime for an extra zing!
