  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 5 large eggs, room temperature

  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup 2% milk

Glaze:

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup butter, cubed
  • 2 tsp water
  • 2 tsp spiced rum
  • ½ cup chopped pecans, toasted

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9×5-inch loaf pans.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (5–7 minutes). Add eggs one at a time, beating well.
  • Mix in rum and vanilla.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well.
  • Spoon batter into prepared pans. Bake 45–50 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
  • Make glaze: In a saucepan, combine sugar, butter, water, and rum. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat.
  • Drizzle glaze over warm cakes and sprinkle with toasted pecans. Let cool completely.

Notes
