Lemon Garlic Shrimp Pasta Recipe: A Deliciously Bright & Flavorful Dish

  • Author: David Andersson
  • Total Time: 25 minutes

Description

Lemon Garlic Shrimp Pasta is a modern variation of Mediterranean-inspired pasta dishes, which often combine fresh seafood with bright citrus flavors. The Mediterranean diet is known for its focus on fresh, healthy ingredients such as olive oil, garlic, and seafood. Shrimp pasta, in particular, has been popular in coastal regions around the world, where seafood is abundant and fresh.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz dried spaghetti
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 lb medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 large lemon (juice & zest)
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 oz grated parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  • Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti until al dente (about 8 minutes). Drain, reserving 1 cup of pasta water.
  • Prepare the shrimp: Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic and red pepper flakes, stirring until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  • Cook the shrimp: Add shrimp to the skillet and cook until pink and opaque (about 3-4 minutes). Remove from heat.
  • Combine everything: Return the skillet to medium heat. Add drained pasta and ¼ cup of reserved pasta water, tossing to coat. Stir until heated through, adding more pasta water if needed.
  • Finish with flavor: Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice, zest, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper. Serve topped with grated parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

For an extra kick of flavor, try adding a pinch of red pepper flakes while sautéing the garlic. You can also sprinkle freshly grated Parmesan or chopped parsley on top just before serving for added richness and color. Pair it with a side of garlic bread or a fresh green salad to complete the meal!
