Description

Tahini & Date Brownies are a healthier twist on the traditional brownie, using Medjool dates as a natural sweetener instead of refined sugar. The addition of tahini, a paste made from sesame seeds, gives the brownies a rich, nutty flavor that pairs perfectly with the dates’ sweetness. These brownies are not only gluten-free but also flourless, making them a great option for those with dietary restrictions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1¼ cups Medjool dates, pitted (soak in warm water if dry)
  • ½ cup tahini (runny, good-quality)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ⅓ cup almond flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp sea salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp dairy-free milk (optional, for texture)
  • Extra tahini for swirling
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper.
  • Soften dates: If needed, soak dates in warm water for 10 minutes, then drain.
  • Blend wet ingredients: In a food processor, blend dates, tahini, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Add dry ingredients: Mix in cocoa powder, almond flour, baking soda, and salt. If the batter is too thick, stir in a bit of milk.
  • Spread batter into the prepared pan. Swirl extra tahini on top and sprinkle sesame seeds.
  • Bake for 20–24 minutes, until just set in the center.
  • Cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

These Tahini & Date Brownies are a wholesome twist on the classic treat—rich, fudgy, and naturally sweetened with dates. The nutty depth of tahini pairs beautifully with the chocolate, making them perfect for guilt-free indulgence. Enjoy them with a cup of coffee or as a healthier dessert option for family and friends.
