2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tbsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
½ cup heavy cream (plus more for brushing)
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate Swirl & Topping
½ cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
½ cup crushed candy canes (divided)
Optional glaze: ½ cup powdered sugar + 1–2 tbsp milk
Instructions
Prep
Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Make the dough
In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
In a separate bowl, whisk cream, egg, and vanilla.
Stir wet ingredients into dry just until combined.
Add swirl
Gently fold in chocolate chips and ¼ cup crushed candy canes.
Turn dough onto a floured surface.
Pat into an 8-inch circle.
Lightly fold dough over itself once or twice to create swirls (don’t overwork).
Cut & bake
Cut into 8 wedges.
Transfer to baking sheet.
Brush tops with cream.
Bake 15–18 minutes, until golden.
Finish
Cool slightly.
Drizzle with glaze if using.
Sprinkle with remaining crushed candy canes.
