Description

Cheese and sausage christmas tree skewers are a festive holiday finger food featuring savory meats, cubed cheeses, and fresh produce assembled on individual cocktail picks and arranged into a holiday tree display. The core element of each skewer is the pairing of smoky fully cooked sausage with creamy cheeses like cheddar and mozzarella. Bright green bell pepper pieces and sweet red cherry tomatoes add crispness, balance, and classic holiday colors to every single bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz (450 g) fully cooked smoked sausage

  • 8 oz (225 g) cheddar cheese, cut into cubes

  • 8 oz (225 g) mozzarella cheese, cut into cubes

  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes

  • 1 green bell pepper, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 1 yellow bell pepper, cut into small star shapes (optional)

  • 1 cup green grapes (optional)

  • 16–24 small wooden skewers or cocktail picks

  • Fresh rosemary sprigs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the ingredients. Cut the cooked sausage into thick rounds. Cut the cheddar and mozzarella into bite-sized cubes. Wash and dry the vegetables and grapes.

2. Prepare the skewers. Thread a piece of sausage, a cube of cheddar, a cube of mozzarella, and a cherry tomato onto each skewer. Add green bell pepper pieces or grapes for extra color.

3. Create the Christmas tree shape. Arrange the skewers on a large serving platter in rows, with the longest row at the bottom and progressively shorter rows toward the top, forming a triangular Christmas tree.

4. Add the decorations. Place a yellow bell pepper star at the top of the tree. Use fresh rosemary sprigs around the edges to resemble evergreen branches.

5. Create the trunk. Arrange extra sausage pieces or cheese cubes at the base to form the tree trunk.

6. Chill and serve. Refrigerate the assembled skewers until serving time. Keep them chilled until ready to enjoy.

Notes

Serve with honey mustard, ranch dressing, or a mild garlic dip on the side for extra flavor. Enjoy this cheerful, savory Christmas appetizer!
