Description
The copycat iced brown sugar oatmilk shaken espresso is a refreshing cold coffee beverage built around four main flavor pillars: freshly pulled dark espresso shots, a sweet spiced brown sugar syrup, plenty of ice, and creamy oat milk. Unlike traditional iced lattes that simply combine cold milk and liquid espresso over ice, a shaken espresso relies on mechanical aeration.
Ingredients
For the Brown Sugar Syrup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Drink
- 2 shots espresso, freshly brewed
- 1 cup ice
- ½ cup oat milk
- 1–2 tablespoons brown sugar syrup
- Pinch of cinnamon, for topping
Instructions
- Make the syrup: In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, water, and cinnamon. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Let cool.
- Brew the espresso: Prepare 2 shots of espresso and let them cool slightly.
- Shake: Add the espresso, brown sugar syrup, and ice to a cocktail shaker or tightly sealed jar. Shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds until frothy and well chilled.
- Add oat milk: Pour the shaken espresso and ice into a tall glass. Add the oat milk and gently stir.
- Finish: Sprinkle a little cinnamon over the top and serve immediately.
Notes
For the best coffee-shop flavor, use freshly brewed espresso and shake it vigorously with plenty of ice. Adjust the brown sugar syrup to your preferred sweetness, and add an extra sprinkle of cinnamon for a warm, cozy finish!
