Description
Before diving into the assembly line, let us clarify the structure of a decadent halal tiramisu without alcohol. This modern interpretation is a chilled, layered icebox cake that highlights three distinct components: a crisp cookie base, a strong coffee soak, and a velvety dairy matrix.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Cream Filling
- 16 oz (450 g) mascarpone cheese, softened
- 1½ cups heavy whipping cream, cold
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Coffee Layer
- 1½ cups strong brewed coffee or espresso, cooled
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar (optional)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For Assembly
- 24–30 halal-certified ladyfinger biscuits (savoiardi)
- 2–3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
- Dark chocolate shavings (optional)
Instructions
- Brew the coffee or espresso and allow it to cool completely. Stir in the sugar (if using) and vanilla extract.
- In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
- In another bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese with the powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined and light.
- Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee for 1–2 seconds. Do not soak them, or they may become too soft.
- Arrange a single layer of dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of an 8×8-inch baking dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone cream evenly over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and finish with the remaining mascarpone cream.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
- Just before serving, dust generously with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.
