Description

For the Steak

  • 1 lb halal sirloin steak or flank steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt

For the Salad

  • 6 cups mixed greens
  • 1 cup grape tomatoes, halved
  • ½ English cucumber, sliced
  • ½ small red onion, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup crumbled blue cheese
  • ½ cup crispy fried onions
  • ¼ cup chopped toasted pecans (optional)

Balsamic Dressing

  • ¼ cup balsamic vinaigrette
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Pinch of black pepper

Instructions

  • Pat the steak dry and rub it with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Cook the steak for 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare or longer to your preferred doneness.
  • Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinaigrette, Dijon mustard, honey, olive oil, lemon juice, and black pepper.
  • In a large serving bowl, combine the mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion.
  • Top the salad with sliced steak, blue cheese crumbles, crispy fried onions, and toasted pecans if using.
  • Drizzle with the dressing just before serving and toss lightly or serve with the dressing on the side.
