For the Steak
- 1 lb halal sirloin steak or flank steak
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
For the Salad
- 6 cups mixed greens
- 1 cup grape tomatoes, halved
- ½ English cucumber, sliced
- ½ small red onion, thinly sliced
- ½ cup crumbled blue cheese
- ½ cup crispy fried onions
- ¼ cup chopped toasted pecans (optional)
Balsamic Dressing
- ¼ cup balsamic vinaigrette
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Pinch of black pepper
Instructions
- Pat the steak dry and rub it with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the steak for 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare or longer to your preferred doneness.
- Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinaigrette, Dijon mustard, honey, olive oil, lemon juice, and black pepper.
- In a large serving bowl, combine the mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion.
- Top the salad with sliced steak, blue cheese crumbles, crispy fried onions, and toasted pecans if using.
- Drizzle with the dressing just before serving and toss lightly or serve with the dressing on the side.
