Description
This Homemade Mango-Chili Fruit Gummies recipe is a natural candy made by combining real mango puree with unflavored gelatin, natural sweetener, fresh citrus juice, and warm spices. Unlike hard candies or sugary jellies, these gummies have a soft, chewy structure provided by gelatin bloom.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups ripe mango chunks, fresh or frozen and thawed
- 2 tbsp fresh lime juice
- 2–3 tbsp honey or maple syrup, to taste
- 1–2 tsp chili powder, to taste
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper, optional
- 3 tbsp unflavored gelatin powder
- ¼ cup cold water
- 1 tbsp sugar or chili-lime seasoning, for coating (optional)
Instructions
- Blend the mango: Add mango and lime juice to a blender. Blend until completely smooth.
- Adjust the flavor: Taste the puree and add honey, chili powder, and cayenne according to your preferred sweetness and spice level.
- Bloom the gelatin: Pour cold water into a small bowl and sprinkle the gelatin evenly over it. Let it sit for 5 minutes to soften.
- Warm the mango: Pour the mango puree into a saucepan and warm over low heat. Do not boil.
- Add the gelatin: Stir the softened gelatin into the warm mango mixture until completely dissolved and smooth.
- Fill the molds: Carefully pour the mixture into silicone gummy molds using a small spoon, squeeze bottle, or dropper.
- Chill: Refrigerate for 2–3 hours, or until the gummies are firm.
- Finish: Remove the gummies from the molds. If desired, lightly coat them with sugar mixed with a pinch of chili-lime seasoning.
