  • Author: David Andersson
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Description

At its core, the Hot Honey Halloumi Flatbread is a fusion dish that prioritizes texture and contrast. It features a soft, pillowy flatbread base—often lightly toasted until the edges are just starting to crisp. On top of this base, we layer golden-brown slices of halloumi cheese.

Ingredients

Scale

For the flatbread base:

  • 2 flatbreads or naan breads
  • 12 tablespoons olive oil

Toppings:

  • 200g halloumi, sliced
  • 12 tablespoons hot honey (or honey + chili flakes)
  • 1 cup arugula or mixed greens
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Cook the halloumi
Heat a pan and fry halloumi slices for 2–3 minutes per side until golden.
  • Prepare flatbread
Brush flatbreads with olive oil and warm them in the oven (200°C / 400°F) for 3–5 minutes.
  • Assemble
Place arugula on the warm flatbread, then add fried halloumi and red onion slices.
  • Drizzle
Spoon over hot honey and sprinkle chili flakes if you like extra heat.
  • Finish & serve
Add a squeeze of lemon juice, season lightly, and serve immediately.

Notes

A perfect balance of sweet heat and salty crispness—best enjoyed fresh and warm straight from the pan.
