Loaded Shawarma Fries Bake

Ultimate Loaded Shawarma Fries Bake Recipe

  • Author: David Andersson
  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

At its core, a Loaded Shawarma Fries Bake is a modern fusion creation that combines Western-style loaded fries with Middle Eastern street food traditions. Instead of the standard bacon, sour cream, and cheddar cheese combo found on typical pub-style loaded fries, this dish builds its foundation on warm, aromatic Middle Eastern spices.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Shawarma Chicken

  • 1 lb (450 g) chicken breast or thighs, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For the Fries Bake

  • 2 lbs (900 g) frozen French fries or homemade fries
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • ½ cup chopped cucumber
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped

Garlic Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup plain yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt

Optional Toppings

  • Pickled turnips
  • Jalapeños
  • Hot sauce
  • Tahini drizzle
  • Extra parsley

Instructions

  • Marinate the Chicken:
In a bowl, combine chicken with yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, paprika, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Cover and marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for deeper flavor).
  • Cook the Fries:
Bake or air-fry the fries according to package instructions until golden and crispy.
  • Cook the Shawarma Chicken:
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated chicken for 8–10 minutes until browned and fully cooked.
  • Assemble the Bake:
Spread the cooked fries in a baking dish or oven-safe tray. Top with shawarma chicken, mozzarella, cheddar, and sliced onions.
  • Bake:
Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 8–10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Add Fresh Toppings:
Remove from the oven and top with tomatoes, cucumbers, parsley, and a generous drizzle of garlic sauce.
  • Serve:
Serve hot with extra sauce, pickles, or a side salad.
