Description
At its core, a pretzel rod snowmen recipe is a no-bake confectionary craft that combines long salted pretzel sticks with smooth white chocolate coating and assorted mini candy accents. Unlike traditional baked sugar cookies or complex holiday cakes, this snack relies entirely on melting and setting technique rather than oven heat. The base pretzel provides structural stability, while the sweet white outer layer acts as both the snowy body and the adhesive glue for festive decorations.
Ingredients
-
12 pretzel rods
-
2 cups (340 g) white chocolate chips or white candy melts
-
1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for smoother melting)
-
24 mini chocolate chips (for eyes)
-
12 orange candy sprinkles or tiny pieces of orange candy (for noses)
-
24 mini pretzel twists (for arms, optional)
-
12 small chocolate candies or mini chocolate chips (for buttons)
-
12 small pieces of colorful fruit leather or candy strips (for scarves, optional)
-
Mini marshmallows or round white candies (optional, for snowman heads)
Instructions
1. Prepare your workspace. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper. Make sure the pretzel rods are dry and ready to decorate.
2. Melt the white chocolate. Place the white chocolate chips or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring after each interval until smooth. Add coconut oil if needed to thin the coating.
3. Dip the pretzel rods. Dip each pretzel rod into the melted white chocolate, leaving a small section uncovered at the bottom for easy handling. Let excess chocolate drip off.
4. Create the snowman shape. Place the coated pretzel rods on the prepared baking sheet. If desired, add a mini marshmallow or round white candy near the top to create a larger snowman head.
5. Add the faces. While the coating is still wet, gently press two mini chocolate chips into the upper portion for eyes and an orange candy piece in the center for the nose.
6. Decorate the bodies. Add chocolate chips or small candies down the front for buttons. Attach mini pretzel twists on either side as arms, if desired.
7. Add scarves. Cut colorful fruit leather or candy strips into narrow pieces and wrap them around the neck area. Press gently so they stick to the coating.
8. Let them set. Refrigerate for about 15–20 minutes, or until the chocolate coating is completely firm.
9. Serve and enjoy. Arrange the Pretzel Rod Snowmen on a festive platter or package them in clear treat bags for holiday gifts.
