Description

At its core, a santa belt cookies recipe combines a soft, buttery vanilla sugar cookie base with smooth, vibrant icing designed to look like the middle of Santa’s famous outfit. The cookie itself features a tender crumb, crisp edges, and a rich vanilla butter flavor that melts in your mouth.

Ingredients

Scale

For the cookies

  • 2½ cups (315 g) all-purpose flour

  • ¾ cup (170 g) unsalted butter, softened

  • ¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ tsp baking powder

  • ¼ tsp salt

For the decoration

  • 2 cups (240 g) powdered sugar

  • 2–3 tbsp milk or water

  • Red gel food coloring

  • Black gel food coloring

  • Yellow or gold edible food coloring

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)

5. Decorate the Santa belts

Cover each cooled cookie with red icing and let it set slightly. Pipe a thick black stripe across the middle to make Santa’s belt. Add a small gold square in the center of the stripe for the buckle. Allow the icing to dry completely before serving.

Notes

Arrange the cookies on a festive platter or package them in clear treat bags tied with red ribbon for homemade Christmas gifts.
