Description
Spooky Spider Deviled Eggs are a creative and fun Halloween twist on the classic deviled egg recipe. Deviled eggs are a beloved appetizer at parties, but adding olive “spiders” gives them a creepy-crawly appearance that is perfect for Halloween. The creamy filling, made with mayonnaise, mustard, and vinegar, is both tangy and rich, while the olive spiders add a savory touch to each bite. They’re fun, easy to make, and sure to impress your guests with their spooky charm.
Ingredients
For the Deviled Eggs:
6 large eggs
3 tbsp mayonnaise
1 tsp yellow mustard (or Dijon)
1 tsp white vinegar or lemon juice (optional, for brightness)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Paprika (optional, for garnish)
For the Olive Spiders:
12 black olives (pitted)
6 olives cut in half for the bodies
6 olives sliced thinly into strips for legs
Instructions
Boil the Eggs
Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water by 1 inch.
Bring to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, turn off heat, cover, and let sit for 10–12 minutes.
Transfer eggs to ice water for 5 minutes, then peel.
Make the Filling
Slice eggs in half lengthwise and remove yolks to a small bowl.
Mash yolks with a fork, then mix in mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar (if using), salt, and pepper until creamy.
Spoon or pipe the filling back into the egg whites.
Assemble the Spiders
Place one half olive (body) on top of each filled egg.
Arrange 6 olive “legs” (3 on each side) around the body.
Sprinkle lightly with paprika for color, if desired.
Chill and Serve
Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes before serving so the filling firms slightly.
Serve cold on a Halloween platter or bed of lettuce for a spooky presentation!
