Description
A strawberry shortcake milkshake is a premium, dessert-style blended beverage. It replicates the exact flavor profile of traditional strawberry shortcake. Standard fruit drinks rely solely on liquid flavorings or plain frozen fruit. This rich recipe incorporates actual baked goods directly into the blender. You can use pound cake, shortbread, or golden shortcake biscuit pieces.
Ingredients
For the milkshake:
- 1½ cups fresh strawberries, hulled
- 2 cups vanilla ice cream
- ½ cup whole milk
- 2–3 tbsp strawberry syrup or strawberry jam
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 2 small pieces of pound cake or shortcake, roughly chopped
- 1–2 tbsp sugar, optional
For topping:
- Whipped cream
- 1–2 strawberries
- Crushed shortbread cookies or pound cake
- Strawberry syrup
Instructions
- Prepare the strawberries: Blend the strawberries with the strawberry syrup or jam until mostly smooth.
- Make the shake: Add the strawberry mixture, vanilla ice cream, milk, vanilla extract, and chopped pound cake to a blender.
- Blend: Blend for about 30–45 seconds, until thick and creamy. Add a little more milk if it’s too thick.
- Serve: Drizzle strawberry syrup inside two glasses, then pour in the milkshake.
- Top: Add a generous swirl of whipped cream, crushed cookies or cake, a strawberry, and another drizzle of strawberry syrup.
Notes
For an extra creamy and delicious milkshake, use fresh ripe strawberries and good-quality vanilla ice cream. You can also add a little whipped cream, strawberry syrup, and crushed shortcake cookies on top for the perfect finishing touch!
