Swicy Halal Chicken Wing Ramen Recipe

  • Author: David Andersson
  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Description

The phrase swicy might sound like a modern internet trend, but it describes a timeless taste profile that balances rich sweetness with intense chili heat. When applied to Swicy Halal Chicken Wing Ramen, it refers to a complete meal that unites two popular food phenomena: crispy, sticky sweet-and-hot glazed chicken wings and a soul-warming bowl of noodle soup.

Ingredients

Scale

For the chicken wings

  • 500 g halal chicken wings
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp gochujang or chili paste
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • ½ tsp ginger paste
  • ½ tsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp cooking oil

For the ramen

  • 2 packs ramen noodles (use halal-certified noodles if the seasoning packet contains meat ingredients)
  • 700 ml chicken stock
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp gochujang
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • ½ tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar or lime juice
  • 1–2 tsp chili oil, to taste

Toppings

  • 2 soft-boiled eggs
  • 2 spring onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds
  • Sweet corn
  • Nori strips
  • Optional: bok choy, mushrooms, or spinach

Instructions

1. Marinate the wings
Mix the chicken wings with soy sauce, honey, gochujang, chili flakes, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and black pepper. Marinate for 30 minutes or, ideally, overnight.

2. Cook the wings
Air-fry at 200°C / 400°F for about 20–25 minutes, turning halfway, until cooked through and crispy. Alternatively, bake at 220°C / 425°F for about 30–35 minutes.

For extra “swicy” flavor, brush the wings during the final few minutes with a mixture of 1 tbsp honey + 1 tbsp gochujang.

3. Make the ramen broth
Heat the chicken stock in a saucepan. Add soy sauce, gochujang, sesame oil, honey, garlic, ginger, and rice vinegar. Simmer gently for 5–7 minutes.

Notes

You can customize this ramen with your favorite toppings! Add extra chili oil for more heat, honey for extra sweetness, or vegetables such as bok choy, mushrooms, corn, or spinach. For an extra-rich and creamy broth, stir in a little coconut milk. Make sure all sauces, noodles, and chicken are halal-certified.
