The Ultimate Loaded Halal Philly Cheesesteak Fries Recipe

  • Author: David Andersson
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

At its core, this dish is a magnificent fusion of two American favorites: the legendary Philly cheesesteak sandwich and ultra-crispy loaded french fries. Instead of serving the traditional shaved steak and melted cheese inside a soft hoagie roll, everything is layered generously over a mountain of golden, crunchy fries.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Fries

  • lbs (680 g) frozen French fries (or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (if making homemade fries)

For the Cheesesteak

  • 1 lb (450 g) halal beef sirloin or ribeye, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano

For the Cheese Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1½ cups shredded provolone, mozzarella, or cheddar cheese
  • Pinch of salt and black pepper

Instructions

  • Bake or air-fry the French fries according to the package directions until crispy and golden.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the onions and bell peppers and sauté for 4–5 minutes until softened.
  • Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Add the sliced halal beef along with the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for 4–6 minutes until the beef is browned and fully cooked.
  • To make the cheese sauce, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  • Slowly whisk in the milk until smooth and slightly thickened.
  • Reduce the heat to low and stir in the shredded cheese until melted and creamy.
  • Arrange the crispy fries on a large serving platter.
  • Spoon the cheesesteak mixture evenly over the fries.
  • Drizzle generously with the warm cheese sauce.
  • Add your favorite toppings such as parsley, jalapeños, tomatoes, green onions, or ranch sauce.
  • Serve immediately while hot and the cheese is perfectly melted.
