Description
A traditional Turkish Kahvaltı platter is a giant morning spread. It is built for group dining. People do not get single plated meals. Instead, dozens of small dishes fill a large wooden board.

Cheese & Dairy
- 150 g Turkish white cheese or feta
- 100 g kaşar cheese, sliced
- 4 tbsp strained yogurt or labneh
Fresh Ingredients
- 2 ripe tomatoes, sliced
- 1 cucumber, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- Fresh parsley, handful
- Fresh mint, optional
Olives & Spreads
- ½ cup mixed green and black olives
- 3 tbsp honey
- 3 tbsp strawberry or fig jam
- 2 tbsp tahini
- 2 tbsp butter
Eggs
- 4 eggs
- 1 tbsp butter or olive oil
- Salt and black pepper
- ½ tsp Aleppo pepper or red pepper flakes, optional
To Serve
- Warm Turkish bread, simit, or crusty bread
- Walnuts
- Dried apricots or figs, optional
Instructions
- Prepare the platter: Arrange the cheeses, olives, tomatoes, cucumber, bell pepper, and fresh herbs on a large serving platter.
- Add the spreads: Place small bowls of honey, jam, tahini, and labneh around the platter. Add butter in a small dish.
- Cook the eggs: Melt butter or heat olive oil in a skillet. Crack in the eggs and cook until the whites are set and the yolks remain slightly runny. Season with salt, black pepper, and Aleppo pepper.
- Add the eggs: Transfer the eggs to a serving dish and place them alongside the breakfast platter.
- Finish: Add walnuts and dried fruit if using, and serve with plenty of warm bread or simit.
