Description
At its core, a candy cane chocolate bark recipe is a no-bake confection made by layering or swirling melted chocolate, topping it with crushed peppermint candy, and letting it set until firm. Once cooled, the hardened slab of chocolate is broken by hand into jagged, rustic shards that showcase contrast between deep cocoa hues and bright white peppermint toppings.
Ingredients
-
300 g milk or dark chocolate, chopped
-
200 g white chocolate, chopped
-
4–5 regular candy canes, crushed
-
½ teaspoon peppermint extract (optional)
-
1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for a smoother chocolate texture)
Instructions
1. Prepare the candy canes
Place the candy canes in a sealed bag and gently crush them into small pieces using a rolling pin. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
2. Melt the dark chocolate
Melt the dark or milk chocolate in a microwave in 20–30 second intervals, stirring between each interval. Alternatively, use a heatproof bowl over a pan of gently simmering water. Stir until smooth.
3. Add the white chocolate
Spread the melted dark chocolate evenly onto the prepared tray. Melt the white chocolate separately and drizzle it over the dark chocolate. Use a toothpick to create a pretty swirl pattern.
4. Sprinkle the candy canes
Scatter the crushed candy cane pieces over the chocolate while it is still soft. Gently press them into the surface so they stick.
5. Chill and break
Refrigerate for 30–45 minutes, or until completely firm. Remove from the tray and break into irregular pieces. Serve or package in festive gift bags.
Notes
Serve Candy Cane Chocolate Bark with hot chocolate, coffee, or tea, or wrap a few pieces in a festive box for a homemade Christmas gift.
